The information regarding the National Drug List has been obtained from the
National Essential Drug List

The list is modelled on the WHO Essential Drug List, and follows the general principles enunciated by WHO in the preparation of such lists. The National Essential Drug List implies that the drugs included in it are accurate to meet the common contemporary health needs of the general population of the country and general obligation of of the health administrators to ensure abundant availability of such drugs in the country. The drugs included in the list are generally safe and effective, and are approved by the Drugs Controller General of India and are currently available at affordable prices to the general public.
